SCEC BUILDING GREEN AT PINE CREST SCHOOL
Pine Crest Preparatory School has selected SCEC as its Construction Manager for the school's Central Energy Plant project. This LEED project consists of the construction of a new central energy plant that will house three 750-ton chillers to serve the entire Fort Lauderdale campus. A new adjacent enclosure will house the cooling towers. The scope of work also includes the distribution piping from the new energy plant building to each of the existing campus buildings throughout the 50-acre site.
SCEC looks forward to addressing the unique challenges of the project. The site for the new plant and cooling towers is extremely limited in terms of size and access. The distribution piping will be installed in various areas of the campus that are occupied by faculty, staff, and students. The campus, which is open year-round, must remain in full operation throughout the construction process. The project cost will be approximately $8.4 million, and construction is anticipated to begin in the fall.
Pine Crest is a highly regarded private school with campuses in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, Florida. The energy plant is the school's first LEED project at its Fort Lauderdale campus.
Paul Carty, LEED Accredited Professional and SCEC Vice President, will serve as Project Manager for the Pine Crest project. For more information on the project, contact Mr. Carty at (954) 923-4747.
